The Mysterious Disappearance of the Children

As I stepped outside into the quiet morning, I couldn't help but feel a sense of unease wash over me. The streets were empty, with not a single car driving by, which was unusual for a Monday morning. My mind began to wander back to Saturday's family gathering at Aunt Maggie's house, where she had been going on and on about the Rapture. At the time, I had brushed it off as just another one of her eccentricities.

But now, as I looked around at the deserted streets, I couldn't help but think that maybe there was some truth to what she had said. The woman across the street came running out of her house, screaming hysterically about her missing children. It was a scene straight out of a horror movie.

As I stood there, trying to make sense of it all, my mind flashed back to when Cousin Andy would always joke about something. Maybe this was just one of his pranks? But the more I thought about it, the less likely that seemed. Where were the children who should be waiting for the school bus? And where was Cousin Andy, who was supposed to pick me up for our carpool to work?

As I stood there in confusion and fear, I noticed something else strange - there was no television reception. Just static filled the screen. It was as if everything had come to a standstill.

I couldn't shake the feeling that something was very wrong. The world had gone silent, and it seemed like everyone had vanished into thin air. As I stood there, wondering what was happening, I couldn't help but think of Aunt Maggie's words from Saturday: 'Everybody went to the Rapture.' Had she been right all along?
